He relaxed completely into Celeborn’s arms as he was carried, and he could have easily fallen asleep if he’d wanted to. “I imagine they have, yes.” He smiled lazily, eyes barely focused as he struggled to stay awake. He forced himself to lift his head when they entered Thranduil and Celeborn’s bedroom, and grinned. “Nothing much changes, hm? I see you still leave clothes all over the place…”“That would seem to be the case,” he said as he looked around the room. He kept it to himself when he noted that this was considerably cleaner than usual… The thought made him smile; a knowing smile he sent Thranduil’s way. He walked over to the bed, not even considering placing Oropher down as he moved onto the mattress. Carefully settling down so he didn’t move Oropher around too much, he adjusted his arms around the smaller Elf. “It seems someone is about to fall asleep…” Looking down at Oropher was almost like looking into a memory: all of the times he had carried the young Elf to bed, held him protectively after a rough nightmare, or even when he was simply upset and needed comfort… He felt a warm sensation spread through his chest and sighed softly in content. Never before had he realized just how much he missed Oropher until this moment.
Thranduil grinned guiltily at his words, because he had to admit that was true. “Well, I never did much growing myself, as is clear~” he replied simply and smiled serenely, walking around and picking up some clothes, throwing them onto a chair instead before turning in time to catch Celeborn’s knowing smile, and he returned it with a wink. What Oropher didn’t know he didn’t need to know. “Oh, so it does indeed seem. Perhaps he is too tired for cuddles.” He chuckled and walked over, climbing into the bed and settling comfortably next to Celeborn, leaning against him with a soft sigh. One hand found Celeborn’s, the other found Oropher’s hair, lightly running through it.
He sighed happily as Celeborn settled onto the bed, clinging to him even though he knew Celeborn wasn’t going to put him down any time soon. He yawned again, humming softly at the gentle touch of Thranduil’s hand in his hair, and he moved to drape his legs over him again. “I can never be too tired for cuddles.” He murmured with a smile. “Not with my sweet boy.” He nuzzled against Celeborn’s chest. “Nor with my ada.” He whispered softly, not entirely aware of what he’d said.
He felt himself tense in the slightest at his words; only rarely had Oropher called him his ada, and ever since having him return from the Halls… a sense of reminiscence washed over him in that moment, as well as something closely related to sorrow. Thousands of years had easily passed in the time Oropher had been gone, and to hear him say it again caused a swell of emotion to build in his chest. Doing what he could to not become too emotional over something so seemingly trivial, he forced a smile on his face and pulled Oropher even closer (if that were even possible at this point). His hand also tightened around Thranduil’s at the same time. They’d said it so many times, but it still held true: they were more than eternally grateful for Oropher’s return, and wished for it to last forever.
He leaned more against Thranduil and turned his head to kiss his cheek softly, then gave another kiss to Oropher’s hair. The affection he felt for them both was endless, it seemed. “As I could never be too tired for cuddles with either of you.” He smiled to Thranduil, knowing that his eyes were filled with a few unshed tears. Only tears of joy, though.
Thranduil smiled softly. His father was, simply put, adorable, even if he did not know it, and he would not interrupt this if he could help it. He looked over at Celeborn as he felt his hand tighten around his, and worried for a moment as he saw tears in his eyes - but there was the smile, and he returned it. There were no tears out of sadness, but of happiness, and he kissed him softly on the lips. “Nor could I. You two are truly, incredibly, perfect. I could not be happier.”
